Mundri Offices Completed
The long awaited dedication of the Bishop’s Court in Mundri has finally taken place on Sunday 25th July 27, 2010. His grace the Archbishop Daniel Deng left Khartoum on Saturday 24th for Juba and he arrived in Mundri at 5:00PM. On the following day, he conducted the dedication in the presence of over 1500 people in attendance.
You can download Bishop Bismarck's remarks about the project from the Salisbury page and also see what he has to say about the LRA in Western Equatoria. Here's a snip that pertains to Lui. If anyone knows who the pastor mentioned might be, please add a comment!
Recently they attacked the camp of a Company Called Payii Roads and Bridges Company Limited. This company is constructing roads beyond Yambio (but not too far from Yambio). They killed the driver, wounded four of the staff on the car (it is a pick up Land Cruiser) but one of the staff survived. This staff is a Pastor of the Diocese of Lui who studied in Nairobi and has B. A. in Bible and Theology from my former school Pan Africa Christian College (PACC) and his family is still in Nairobi. However, he has since taken up a job with the Company for the sustainability of his family. He said he was sitting with the driver in the front seat and when the LRA attacked, they shot the driver dead besides him and then he opened the door of the car fell out and ran! In the event of running the LRA started to shoot at him and those on the vehicle, but God saved his life. Although he has dislocation on his arm due to the fall and is now under treatment! The four are injured and are in serious condition in the hospital.
If, like me, you are kind of starving for Moru news these days, check out these blogs from World Harvest Mission folks in Mundri. (Our friends in Lui are having problems with their generator and therefore can't get online.) Every now and then, the WHMers mention something or someone in Lui:
